About ZappyQ

Who is behind ZappyQ?

ZappyQ is built and operated by Expi AB, a small software company in Billesholm, Sweden. This page tells you who we are, why ZappyQ exists, what the product does today and how we treat your data.

The company

Who is Expi AB?

A Swedish limited company that builds and runs its own apps. ZappyQ is one of them.

Expi AB is a Swedish limited company (aktiebolag) with organisation number 559415-3917 and VAT number SE559415391701. The company is based at Vångvägen 1, 267 71 Billesholm, in the south of Sweden, and has its own website at expi.se.

ZappyQ is the product name; Expi AB is the legal entity that provides the service, issues invoices and acts as data controller under the GDPR. You will find the company details in the footer of every page, in the Terms of Service and in the Privacy Policy.

Why ZappyQ

Why does ZappyQ exist?

Because live quiz tools kept selling us tiers, player caps and apps to install. We wanted one honest product.

Hosts pay one Host Plan at $9.99/mo, billed monthly, cancel anytime. Players never pay. Everything else on this page follows from those two sentences.

  • One flat price for hosts

Most live quiz tools sell tiers: more players here, another question type there, reports only in the top plan. ZappyQ has one Host Plan with everything in it, and a free plan with no time limit so you can try before you pay.

  • Players never pay

Whoever is in the room, a class, a conference hall or a family, joins free. There is no per-player pricing and no per-seat licence. The host's plan is the only thing that is ever billed.

  • No app, no account for players

Players open a web page, scan the QR code or type the six-digit PIN. Nothing to download and nothing to sign up for. Hosts need an account only to run live games; building a quiz needs none.

  • Swedish and English, equally

We are Swedish, and we were tired of tools where Swedish was an afterthought. The whole product, the AI generator, the nickname generator and these pages exist in both languages.

  • GDPR first, 24-hour deletion

Game data, including nicknames, answers and scores, is deleted automatically 24 hours after a game is created. Players give us no contact details, ever. There are no advertising cookies and no analytics trackers.

  • Built and run in Sweden

Expi AB develops, hosts and supports ZappyQ from Sweden under EU law. The application servers run on Vercel in the Stockholm region. Every sub-processor we use is listed by name in the Privacy Policy.

The product

What is ZappyQ today?

A live quiz platform: build a quiz, put it on a big screen, and players answer on their own phones in real time.

A host builds a quiz by hand or with AI, starts a live game on a projector or TV, and players join with a nickname. Between questions everyone sees the leaderboard; after the game the host sees how every question went. Today ZappyQ includes:

  • Six question types: multiple choice, true/false, type the answer, put in order, slider and poll
  • AI drafts from a topic or pasted text, up to 20 questions, in English or Swedish
  • Join by QR code or six-digit PIN, no app and no account for players
  • Scoring by speed, accuracy or flat points, with an optional streak bonus
  • Reconnect without losing score, streak or rank
  • Reports per question on screen; CSV export on the Host Plan
  • Free plan with no time limit: 10 AI generations in total and live games with up to 25 players
  • Host Plan: no player cap, 200 AI generations a month and CSV export

That is the whole list. We do not publish user counts, ratings or testimonials on this site, because we would rather you try the free plan and judge ZappyQ for yourself.

Data

How do we handle your data?

Short version: we collect as little as possible and delete it as soon as we can.

Hosts give us an email address and a password, which we store only as a cryptographic hash. Players give us a nickname, their answers and their scores, and all of it is deleted with the game 24 hours after it is created. ZappyQ sets two functional cookies and no advertising or analytics trackers.

When a host uses the AI generator, only the host's own prompt goes to OpenAI. No player data ever reaches an AI service. Payments are handled by Stripe, so card details never touch our servers. Password-reset and verification emails go through Resend.

The full text is in the Privacy Policy, and the rules of the service are in the Terms of Service. For any privacy request, including access to or erasure of your data, email privacy@zappyq.com.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Who owns ZappyQ?

ZappyQ is owned and operated by Expi AB, a Swedish limited company with organisation number 559415-3917, based in Billesholm, Sweden. Expi AB builds and runs other apps as well, and the same small team develops, hosts and supports ZappyQ. The company details are in the footer of every page and in the Terms of Service.

Where is ZappyQ data stored?

ZappyQ's application servers run on Vercel in the Stockholm region, and accounts, quizzes and live game state are stored in Upstash Redis. Expi AB is the data controller under the GDPR. The only data that leaves the EU is a host's AI prompt, which goes to OpenAI in the United States under standard contractual clauses. Game data is deleted after 24 hours.

Is ZappyQ suitable for schools?

Yes. ZappyQ was designed so that pupils can play without giving us personal data: they join with a nickname, no account and no app, and everything about the game is deleted after 24 hours. Teachers get all six question types, AI drafts and on-screen reports on the free plan, with live games for up to 25 players, a whole class.

How is ZappyQ different from Kahoot!?

ZappyQ sells one Host Plan with everything included, billed monthly and cancellable anytime, and players never pay. Kahoot!'s plans cap players per game and unlock question types by tier, at listed prices of $3–79 a month billed annually. The full comparison, with sources and the date we checked the prices, is on our Kahoot! alternative page. ZappyQ vs Kahoot!
