For trainers and L&D teams

Live quizzes for trainers, workshops and team events

Check that onboarding actually stuck, wake up a Friday meeting or open the all-hands with an icebreaker. Participants join from their phones in seconds. You get a per-question report on screen and, on the Host Plan, a CSV you can file.

At a glance

  • Participants join by QR code or PIN: no app, no account
  • Per-question report on screen after every session
  • CSV export with answers and response times on the Host Plan
  • Free plan for teams of up to 25, no time limit
  • Host Plan: no player cap, 200 AI generations a month

How it works

How does a training quiz work in ZappyQ?

From the handbook to a report you can attach to the training record, in three steps.

  1. Build the knowledge check

Paste the onboarding material, the policy update or the product sheet (up to 15,000 characters) and let the AI draft up to 20 multiple-choice questions with explanations, or write your own with six question types. Set a time limit per question, pick a colour theme and choose how points work. The AI quiz generator page shows what a draft looks like.

  2. Run it in the room or on the call

Share the host screen on the meeting-room TV or in the video call. The lobby shows a QR code and a six-digit PIN; participants scan it or type the PIN at zappyq.com/join and pick a nickname. The question and the answers appear on their own phones, so remote colleagues play on equal terms.

  3. Prove the training stuck

The report shows the answer distribution for every question and flags the ones fewer than 35 % got right, so you know what to repeat. On the Host Plan you download the results as a CSV with each participant's answers, points and response times, ready for your LMS or the training record.

Use cases

What do trainers use ZappyQ for?

Short, live and on everyone's own phone. These are the sessions the tool was built around.

  • Onboarding knowledge checks

End week one with ten questions on the handbook, the tools and the people. The report tells you which topics the new hire needs a second pass on.

  • Compliance refreshers

Short checks after a security or safety briefing. The CSV lists who answered what, with response times, so you can document that the briefing was followed up.

  • Friday energizers

Five questions on the week's news, product trivia or the team's inside jokes. Speed scoring and a streak bonus keep it competitive.

  • All-hands icebreakers

A poll question with no right answer to warm up the room, then a quick quiz on the quarter's numbers. The Host Plan has no player cap.

  • Workshop recap

Close a workshop with a type-the-answer round on the key terms, then put the hardest questions on screen and discuss them.

  • Product and sales enablement

Quiz the field team on the new release. Image questions let you show the interface and ask what the button does.

Reports

What do the report and the CSV contain?

Exactly what the product produces today, nothing more.

On screen, on every plan

  • Final leaderboard with score, streak and rank
  • Per question: how many answered and how the answers were distributed
  • Questions flagged as difficult (fewer than 35 % correct)
  • Each participant's own result on their phone

CSV export, Host Plan

  • Leaderboard sheet: rank, nickname, score, correct answers, answered
  • Per-question sheet: question, type, nickname, correct yes/no, points, response time in seconds
  • UTF-8 with BOM, so it opens cleanly in Excel
  • Downloaded from the results page right after the game

Settings that matter in a training room

Scoring modes: speed (full points for a fast correct answer, falling to half at the deadline), flat (same points for every correct answer, better for assessments) or accuracy (one point per correct answer). A streak bonus is optional in every mode, and polls never score.

Time limit from 5 to 240 seconds per question, optional reading time before answers unlock, randomised question and answer order, and double or zero points on individual questions.

Four colour themes (Classic, Ocean, Sunset, Forest) for the host and player screens, and an image on any question. Lock the game once everyone is in, or remove a participant at any time.

Plans

Which plan does a team need?

A team of up to 25 can run on the free plan indefinitely: unlimited quizzes, all six question types, 10 AI generations in total and the report on screen. For the whole company, the Host Plan costs $9.99/mo per host, billed monthly through Stripe, cancel anytime. Participants never pay. The pricing page has the price in every currency and the billing details.

Security and data

Security and data

What we can say honestly. No certifications are claimed, because we hold none.

Participants join with a nickname. ZappyQ processes only that nickname, their answers and their scores; we do not ask for email addresses or names. Every game is deleted automatically 24 hours after it is created.

Hosts have an account with an email address and a hashed password. Host Plan payments go through Stripe; card numbers never reach our servers.

ZappyQ is operated by Expi AB in Sweden under GDPR. The application servers run on Vercel in Stockholm, and quiz and game data are stored in Upstash. When you use the AI generator, only your prompt is sent to OpenAI (processed in the United States under standard contractual clauses); participant data never goes to an AI service. Transactional email goes through Resend.

We do not hold a SOC 2 report or an ISO 27001 certificate and do not claim one. If your security team needs to review the data flows, the privacy policy lists every sub-processor; write to support@zappyq.com for anything it does not answer.

If you download a CSV, that file lives on your systems and your organisation is the controller for it. Coming from Kahoot!? The Kahoot! alternative page compares plans and limits, and the teachers page covers the same tool in a classroom. Back to the ZappyQ home page.

FAQ

Questions trainers ask

Do participants need to install anything?

No. ZappyQ runs in the browser. Participants scan the QR code on the shared screen or type the six-digit PIN at zappyq.com/join, pick a nickname and play on their own phone or laptop. Remote colleagues on a video call join the same way. There is no app, no account and nothing for a participant to pay.

Can I export the results to document completion?

Yes, on the Host Plan. ZappyQ's CSV export contains the leaderboard and one row per participant per question with correct yes/no, points and response time. Nicknames are whatever participants typed, so ask them to use their real names if you need to match results to people. On the free plan the same report is shown on screen but cannot be downloaded.

How many people can join a ZappyQ game?

On ZappyQ's free plan, up to 25 players per live game, which covers a team. The Host Plan has no player cap, so a company all-hands joins the same way as a workshop: scan the code or type the PIN. The practical limit is your network and the room, not the plan. You can lock the game once everyone is in.

Can I brand the quiz with our company colours?

Partly. ZappyQ offers four colour themes (Classic, Ocean, Sunset and Forest) for the host and player screens, and every question can carry an image, for example a slide or a product screenshot. There is no custom logo upload or custom palette today. If that matters for your event, tell us at support@zappyq.com.

Is ZappyQ secure enough for internal company material?

ZappyQ stores your quiz text and live game state on servers in Stockholm (Vercel and Upstash), deletes game data 24 hours after creation and sends only the host's prompt to OpenAI when you use the AI generator. It is not SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certified. For confidential material, judge it as you would any web tool and read the privacy policy first.
